About this event

The 'Makomanai Shrine Annual Grand Festival,' held on the grandest scale in the Kitahiyama District of Setana Town, is a traditional festival praying for bountiful harvests. During the Yoimiya Festival on September 14, floats from neighborhood associations gather below Makomanai Shrine, presenting dedicated dances and a children's musical accompaniment (ohayashi) contest to colorfully kick off the festival. During the Annual Grand Festival on September 15, brave Mikoshi and 5 floats parade through the town, wrapping the entire area in festival fervor. At night, the main event 'Taiko Battle' is held by closing the national highway, where intense drum beating unfolds with each neighborhood association's pride on the line. The traditional Baka-bayashi performed in front of spectators stirs up great excitement at the venue with its dynamic power. This festival is deeply connected to the pioneer history of Kitahiyama, providing a precious opportunity to directly experience culture and traditions rooted in the community.
