About this event
The 2026 Wako Citizens' Festival will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026. On the main event day from 9:30 to 15:30, it will bustle with mock shop stalls and more. The festival period runs from Saturday, October 31 to Sunday, November 8. Festival programs are currently being planned by the executive committee and will be updated as soon as decisions are made. This year, the 'Wakolabo Festival', which was previously held every May, will be held concurrently on the same day. Additionally, an ASIMO hot-air balloon will take to the skies at the Citizens' Festival, marking the return of a hot-air balloon event for the first time in decades. The hot-air balloon event will take place on Sunday, November 8 from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wako Municipal Second Junior High School schoolyard, featuring tethered ride experiences (advance reservation required, paid, first-come first-served), a hot-air balloon workshop, and a marker throwing experience. In case of rain or strong winds, the hot-air balloon workshop and marker throwing experience are scheduled to be held at Hirosawa Elementary School Gymnasium. Details on the hot-air balloon event, advance reservation procedures, and fees are scheduled to be released around late September.
