Kinchakuda Red Spider Lily Festival
Japanese name:巾着田曼珠沙華まつり
📅 Mon, Sep 21, 2026 - Tue, Oct 6, 2026
About this event
Kinchakuda in Hidaka City, Saitama Prefecture, is known as one of Japan's largest colonies of manjushage (red spider lilies), where approximately 5 million flowers bloom all at once during the autumn equinox period. The pouch-shaped plain formed by the meander of the Koma River is dyed in a vivid red that covers the ground completely for a short period from mid-September to early October. The magical sight of red flowers rising on leafless stems under the filtering sunlight through trees is something special rarely seen elsewhere. During the festival period, local gourmet food and specialty products are also sold, delighting visitors' eyes and palates. Because blooming conditions are updated on the official website as needed, checking before visiting allows you to enjoy them without missing peak bloom. Access from central Tokyo is relatively good, and arriving by train is also possible. While admission to the colony is charged during the blooming period of the red spider lilies, you can savor the beautiful scenery unique to this time of year.
