About this event
Sugawara Daijin is also known as a "shrine for conceiving children" (Kodakara Shrine), and there is a legend that holding any of the roughly 90 large and small "child-birthing stones" (kosan-seki) dedicated to the shrine will bless one with children. Holding these sacred stones is permitted only twice a year, on the days of the festival and annual festival. Many worshippers visit during the Autumn Festival every year on November 25 to pray for fertility and safe childbirth. On the day, reception begins at 7:30 AM, and prayer rituals start at 10:30 AM. Following that, general worship, prayers for safe delivery, and fertility prayers (holding the sacred stones) take place from around 11:00 AM. The venue is Sugawara Daijin located at 60 Sakuraicho, Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. Parking for 100 vehicles is available, but since there is no dedicated parking lot for Sugawara Daijin, visitors park near Sakuraicho Park. Tamagushi offerings for thanksgiving visits, safe childbirth prayers, and fertility prayers start from 5,000 yen. Inquiries can be made to 0478-86-4405 (Sugawara Daijin / Higashidai Shrine).
