52nd Kamagaya Citizens' Festival
Japanese name:第52回 鎌ケ谷市民まつり
📅 Sat, Oct 10, 2026
About this event
Running for nearly half a century since its first edition in 1975 (Showa 50), this is Kamagaya City's largest citizen-participation festival. The biggest highlight is the "Armored Samurai Horse Procession" of the Soma Nomaoi, a Nationally Designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, offering an impressive sight of warriors in armor parading through the city on horseback. With the KAMA-1 Grand Prix local food competition, stage events, parades, children's activities, and a flea market, the festival offers a rich program enjoyable for everyone from small children to adults all day long. As a major autumn event deepening community bonds, it bustles with many visitors. Because the main street becomes particularly crowded during the Armored Samurai Horse Procession, visiting during the early morning hours allows for a comparatively relaxed experience. The venue is around Kamagaya City Hall, easily accessible from Shin-Kamagaya Station.
