Peace Exhibition: Conveying the Importance of Peace (Sodegaura, Chiba)

In order to pass down the tragedies of war and the preciousness of peace to future generations, Sodegaura City will hold an exhibition to convey the importance of peace. In addition to the annual atomic bomb photograph exhibition, this year's event features VR (virtual reality) footage that allows visitors to experience the reality of the atomic bombing, as well as "Paintings of the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb" created by high school students in Hiroshima City borrowed from Hiroshima City. Through this exhibition, an opportunity is provided to convey the memories of the atomic bombing and wishes for peace to future generations. In the 2nd floor Citizens' Gallery of the City Hall South Building, there will be an atomic bomb photo exhibition, a display of paintings of the Hiroshima atomic bombing by Hiroshima high school students, and an exhibition of winning works from the Mayors for Peace-sponsored "Children's 'Peaceful Town' Art Contest 2025." At the Hirakawa Exchange Center, panel displays conveying the damage of the atomic bombing and wishes for peace will be held. Furthermore, in the Sodefureba on the 2nd floor of the City Hall South Building, a booth will be set up where visitors can simulate the atomic bomb damage experience using VR goggles. These VR goggles provide a 360-degree view with audio of Hiroshima's townscape before and after the bombing, the tragic scenes at the time of the bomb drop, and present-day conditions. As an outreach exhibition by the Local History Museum, the "People of Sodegaura and the War Exhibition" will also be held, showcasing items that convey people's lives during wartime such as senninbari (thousand-stitch cloths), military uniforms, and early Showa period magazines.
