About this event

Held as a festival to conclude the year in the Hokusou region, the Yachimata Shrine Grand Festival features the pulling of a total of 6 floats and food stalls (dashi and yatai), each with its own unique characteristics, as its main highlight. The festival music (ohayashi) is a blend of the Sawara-bayashi from eastern Hokusou, the Kyokuseizan-ryu from Asahi City, the Yokaichiba Sunahara-ryu from Sosa City, and the Sakura Edo-bayashi styles, incorporating various pieces regardless of school. Over 100 stalls line the South Exit of JR Yachimata Station, with floats passing closely past their eaves. On the second day, the portable shrine (mikoshi) of Yachimata Shrine joins in, and from evening to night, floats and stalls gather at the South Exit of JR Yachimata Station for a competition of dances and festival music. Please come and enjoy this festival held at the end of the year.
