JAF Day: Hang in There, Isumi Railway! 'You Too Can Be a Train Driver Starting Today!'

About this event

A special event for children dreaming of becoming train drivers, JAF Day: Hang in There, Isumi Railway! 'You Too Can Be a Train Driver Starting Today!', will be held. This event features a variety of content where participants can experience the admired world of train drivers. In a talk session titled 'The Path to Becoming an Admired Driver' led by an active Isumi Railway driver, attendees can hear about the journey and personal experiences of becoming a driver. There will also be a corner where participants can experience a simplified version of the Kraepelin Test, an essential aptitude test required to become a train driver. Furthermore, a valuable opportunity will be provided to enter the train's cab—which is normally off-limits—to experience opening and closing doors, making onboard announcements, and taking commemorative photos. At the control console equipped with timetables and pocket watches, you can experience the realistic atmosphere of commercial train operation. To commemorate the event, a workshop will also be held to create original train headmarks, and the finished headmark can be mounted on a train car for a commemorative photo. As traffic safety awareness for railway crossings, a 'Child Safety Driver's License' produced in collaboration between Isumi Railway and JAF will also be issued. Isumi Railway goods will be prepared as souvenirs to commemorate the event. In addition, the unveiling of the 'JAF x Isumi Railway Collaboration Headmark', revealed for the first time at this event, is one of the key highlights. This event will be a valuable learning experience about the appeal of railways and traffic safety, enjoyable for both children and adults alike.
