The "Yoritomo Festival", tracing the history associated with Minamoto no Yoritomo, will be held in Kyonan Town from Thursday, October 8 to Thursday, October 22, 2026. The venue is the Urban Exchange Facility / Roadside Station Hotakogakko (Michi-no-Eki Hotakogakko). Throughout the period, the "Yoritomo Exhibition" will feature displays of armor and introduce the footsteps and legends of Minamoto no Yoritomo in Kyonan Town. On Sunday, October 18, many family-friendly programs are scheduled, including a kamishibai picture storytelling show titled "Legend of Yoritomo", a gallery talk by a curator, a performance of Ryushima Kiyari Uta songs, and an armor try-on experience. Starting at 13:30 on the same day, a lecture will also be given by Mr. Musui Fujiyama, author of "Yoritomo-den" depicting Yoritomo the human. In addition, the "Minamoto no Yoritomo Guided Tour" visiting sites linked to Yoritomo will take place on Monday, October 12 (public holiday), and the "Minamoto no Yoritomo Hiking" walking through Hyakuzaka in Futtsu City will be held on Sunday, October 18. Advance registration is required for both.
