Japanese name:根津神社例大祭
📅 Sat, Sep 26, 2026 - Sun, Sep 27, 2026
About this event
The Nezu Shrine Annual Grand Festival is a historic ritual festival where 'San-za no Mai', a shrine-tradition kagura designated as an Intangible Cultural Property, is dedicated at the dance stage. During the festival period, numerous stalls line the expansive precinct spanning roughly 7,000 tsubo (approx. 23,000 square meters), creating a lively atmosphere. In particular, 2026 marks the Shinkosai festival held once every 4 years, and on Sunday, September 27, the 'Ni-no-Miya' (Second Shrine)—one of three palace mikoshi portable shrines—is scheduled to go on procession. This festival offers a valuable opportunity to experience local culture and tradition firsthand, attracting many worshippers.
