About this event

The Nezu-Sendagi Shitamachi Festival, held every autumn in the stylish and atmosphere-rich Nezu and Sendagi areas, features various events centered around the main venue, Nezu Shrine (famous for azaleas), as well as sub-venues throughout the neighborhood. It is packed with events that adults and children alike can enjoy, including food stalls, flea markets, and a stamp rally. On the grounds of Nezu Shrine, the Fair Plaza hosts food stalls, local product shops, and tourism promotions, while the Fureai Plaza offers an opening ceremony, brass band performances, and dance. The Children's Plaza provides quoits (ring toss), soap bubbles, traditional games, and more. A flea market will also be held, buzzing with crowds. In addition, the stamp rally offers a chance to win commemorative prizes in a lottery by collecting stamps from 8 designated locations. At the sub-venues, a wide variety of locally flavored attractions are held, such as koto concerts, hula dancing, Japanese taiko drumming, free rickshaw rides, street kamishibai (picture storytelling), art exhibitions, and workshops. Guided walking tours following paths walked by great literary figures are also conducted, allowing visitors to experience the region's rich history and culture.
