About this event
A historic fire prevention festival is held at Akiba Shrine, known since the Edo period as a deity of fire extinguishing. During the festival, fire-prevention gohei (sacred wooden wands with paper streamers) are distributed, and Japanese traditional dance and kagura performances are dedicated on the shrine grounds. The fire prevention ritual takes place on the 18th starting at 14:00. This festival has been cherished since ancient times as a sacred ritual to protect the community from fires, allowing visitors to experience its history and culture through the dedication of traditional performing arts.
