Hachioji Community Opera 2026: Verdi's "La Traviata"

About this event

"Hachioji Community Opera 2026" is a "handmade opera" created through the collaborative efforts of professional musicians, a citizens' choir, neighboring universities, and administrative staff, based at Icho Hall. This edition presents Verdi's 3-act opera "La Traviata" performed in its original language (with subtitles) in a piano version. Led by Artistic Director Toshiaki Murakami, the project aims for community-rooted activities unique to Hachioji. After the performance, an after-talk by the cast and directors will be held, offering a glimpse behind the scenes of the opera. In addition, the "Hachioji Community Opera Costume Exhibition," displaying past stage costumes, will be held concurrently as another highlight.
