The 40th Gessouji Kichijoji Takigi Noh

This is the 40th performance of 'Gessouji Kichijoji Takigi Noh', a traditional performing art that has continued since 1986 (Showa 61) at Gessouji Temple in Kichijoji. Takigi Noh is a form of Noh performed within the glow of bonfires lit around an outdoor Noh stage. The mystical stage floating in the dark night invites the audience into a world of profound elegance (yugen). In the Kyogen play 'Roren', Mansaku Nomura and Mansai Nomura will perform, while in the Noh play 'Tsuchigumo', Kiyokazu Kanze and others will perform. Please enjoy a special time unique to Kichijoji in a magical space illuminated by bonfires. In case of rain, the venue will change to Musashino Civic Cultural Hall and be performed as LED Candle Noh.
