About this event

The "Takahata Momiji Lantern Path," an autumn tradition of Takahata Fudo, will be held again in 2026. Centering on the approach to Takahata Fudoson Temple, street lights are dimmed, and approximately 3,000 lanterns are lit. Some lanterns feature drawings by local elementary and university students, and "Yume Akari" cut-paper lanterns, which originated in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, will also make an appearance. Autumn foliage illumination will also take place within the Takahata Fudoson grounds, allowing visitors to enjoy the magical autumn Takahata Fudo in a way distinct from daytime. The sight of lanterns being lit one by one and the night townscape where autumn leaves overlap with lantern light possess a special charm that differs from photographs.
