About this event
"Mansai Nomura: An Evening of Kyogen," where visitors can fully appreciate the appeal of classical Japanese Kyogen theater, will be held at the Main Hall of Harmony Hall Zama in Zama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Established between the Kamakura and Muromachi periods and handed down to this day, Kyogen has fascinated many people with its distinctive humor and deeply human portrayals. In this performance, Mansai Nomura, a Living National Treasure, plays the Daimyo in "Hagi Daimyo" and the Parent Demon in "Kubi Hiki." Commentary by performers is also planned, making the program accessible and enjoyable even for first-time Kyogen audiences. Kazunori Takano will provide the commentary. Highlights of the play "Hagi Daimyo" include the interaction between the Daimyo played by Mansai Nomura and Taro Kaja played by Shuichi Nakamura. In "Kubi Hiki," the showdown between the Parent Demon played by Yuki Nomura and Chinzei Hachiro Tametomo played by Go Iida is depicted. Furthermore, talented Kyogen actors such as Yukio Ishida, Hiroharu Fukata, Ren Naito, Haruo Tsukizaki, and Satoshi Oka will also perform, gracing the stage. Tickets are all reserved seating at 5,500 yen. Preschool children are not admitted. Ticket sales start on Thursday, July 30, with a limit of 4 tickets per person on the first day. For details regarding ticket purchases, please check with the Harmony Hall Zama office, inside Sky Arena Zama, or at Harmony Hall Zama.
