At Yui-Port (Niigata City Center for Creative Arts and International Youth Exchange) in Niigata, 'Niigata Water Memory Project 2026 – Minato of Memories' will be held. This art project views the 'memories related to water' remaining in various parts of Niigata through the perspective of artist Hirokazu Sakaho, sharing, recording, and passing them on to the future together with citizens. Initiated by the 'Water and Land Niigata Art Festival' in 2009, it has continued for 17 years to record water-related landscapes, traces, and people's memories while walking through the local areas. Titled 'Minato of Memories,' this exhibition not only looks back on the 17 years of activities, but also serves as a 'port' to look at collected memories, bring in new memories, talk together, and pass them into the future. At the venue, in addition to artwork exhibitions by artist Hirokazu Sakaho, gallery talks, talk events, and workshops will also be held, allowing visitors to encounter memories related to Niigata's water and experience weaving new memories.
