50th National Designation Anniversary Commemorative Ayako Mai On-Site Performance

About this event

Marking the 50th anniversary of its designation as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, "Ayako Mai" will be performed for the public in Onnadani, its place of tradition. You can enjoy the elegant dance preserved in this area for 500 years along with the festive musical accompaniment resonating through its ancestral home. On the day, a stage purification dance, performances of various programs, and a commemorative ceremony are scheduled. In the morning session, performances ranging from "Hitachi Odori" to "Eboshi Ori" will be presented, and in the afternoon session, from "Kogiriko Odori" to "Inaka Kudari Odori." A temporary shuttle bus connecting Kashiwazaki Station and Ayako Mai Kaikan will operate to the venue (1,000 yen round trip). The viewing area opens at 10:00 AM, and saving spots or reserving seats before opening is not permitted. As temperatures are expected to be high on the day, please take precautions against heatstroke, as well as measures against the black flies (buto) that inhabit the area in large numbers (such as wearing long sleeves and long pants, and using insect repellent spray).
