About this event

The "National Historic Site Mitori Ruins Summer Festival 2026," themed around the nationally designated historic Mitori Ruins in Mitsuke City, Niigata Prefecture, will be held. This festival offers various events to experience the charm of the Mitori Ruins. Main activities include the "Mitori Ruins Insect Observation Tour" held early in the morning, as well as hands-on Jomon period experiences such as "Jomon Pottery Rubbing Experience," "Magatama Bead Making Experience," and "Mini-Kite Crafting & Kite Flying Experience." Additionally, there are plenty of programs for children and adults to enjoy, such as the ruins-themed "Mitori Ruins Jomon Karuta Card Game," "Jomon Target Shooting & Toy Goldfish Scooping," and "Jomon True-or-False Quiz." At night, the "Dokimimito-kun Light-up" will also take place, allowing visitors to enjoy a magical atmosphere. Food and beverage stalls will be set up as well, making it an event where you can experience the history and culture of the Mitori Ruins throughout the entire day. Advance registration is required for some hands-on activities.
