About this event

The 1st edition of 'Mitsuke Locals', a talk and networking event hosted by Mitsuke City, invites guests engaged in interesting activities in the region under the themes of 'Agriculture' and 'Giant Kite Battles' to share their activities and joys. Guests include Naoto Sato of 'Hesono-o Farm', who started farming anew and works to connect rural landscapes and living to the future together with visitors from outside the region, and Junpei Ryota, former leader of the Imamachi 5-chome Kite Troupe of the Imamachi-Nakanoshima Giant Kite Battle, one of Japan's leading traditional events with a history of over 360 years. From Mr. Sato, we will hear about efforts toward creating a sustainable rural environment while enjoying herbal tea made with herbs harvested in Mitsuke. From Mr. Ryota, he will talk about the 'realities of giant kite battles', including the appeal of giant kite battles and his enthusiasm for creating events that are easy for local children to participate in. In the latter half of the event, guests and participants will gather around light snacks to freely interact, providing an opportunity to discover new ways to engage with Mitsuke and find 'fun'. Recommended for those interested in regional Japan, looking for interesting things or ways to connect with Mitsuke, interested in agriculture or giant kite battles, or wishing to connect with people interested in Mitsuke.
