About this event
The 'Tsumugi-dori Kei Truck Market' held along Tsumugi Street in Shiozawa, Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, is conveniently located a 1-minute walk from JR Shiozawa Station, in a scenic spot overlooking Mount Makihata, which is revered as the deity of weaving. It began in 2010 as a community-driven initiative by local residents and was resumed in May 2022. At this kei truck market, an abundance of Shiozawa rice—reputed to be particularly delicious even among Uonuma-grown Koshihikari—as well as fresh vegetables, wild edible plants (sansai), and fruits nurtured by snowmelt water will be lined up. The wide variety of products provided by vendors gathering from inside and outside Niigata Prefecture brings smiles to visitors. Held on the 1st Sunday of every month, it can be enjoyed from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (may be canceled in case of bad weather).
