The Nakajo Festival, the annual grand festival of Kumano Wakamiya Shrine held in Tainai City, begins with the Minyo Nagashi folk dance parade on September 3 and runs through September 6 with flower floats and float parades. Many night stalls line the area from Honcho Street to the Kumano Wakamiya Shrine grounds, creating a lively atmosphere every year. In Nakajo's unique float pulling, you can enjoy both the elegance of geigi dancing atop the floats and the bravery of the floats bumping vigorously against each other with ground-shaking force. In 2026, the Minyo Nagashi folk dance parade will be held on Thursday, September 3, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM along the Honcho Street Shopping District, where dancers and spectators unite in excitement to the musical accompaniment of the Tainai City Folk Song Groups Federation Council. This Minyo Nagashi is the opening event of the Nakajo Festival.
