Held in Tagami Town, Niigata Prefecture, the 'Tagami International Bamboo Festival TAGAMI Bam Boo Boo 2026' is a magical light-up event that revalues abandoned bamboo forests as art. Marking its 5th edition this year, it decorates the bamboo grove with light art. Spanning six venues including 'TAGAMI Bam Boo Boo Bamboo Grove', 'Roadside Station Tagami (Michi-no-Eki Tagami)', and 'Chinjuso', visitors can enjoy beautiful bamboo lantern art created by artists and local elementary and junior high school students. At the main venue, 'TAGAMI Bam Boo Boo Bamboo Grove', bamboo art by 4 artists is displayed across an area about the size of a soccer field, where bamboo corridors, woven bamboo balls, and light filtering through patterned perforated bamboo create an enchanting atmosphere. Additionally, this year features a 'Light Parade' as an opening event, with approximately 300 participants parading to lights and music. New attractions include the 'TBBB Tagami Bam Boo Boo Museum', featuring hands-on art and original food comprehensively produced by 3rd-year Tagami Junior High School students, and 'Hikari no Mi' displaying drawings of local residents' smiles. At 'Roadside Station Tagami', a 6-meter-tall bamboo swing and weekend-only night markets will also be held, transforming the entire event into a bamboo-lantern art space.
