The Shimodate Grand Festival is a traditional festival held in Sekikawa Village, Niigata Prefecture. In 2026, it will be held from September 19 to September 20. During the festival, various events are held, bringing the local community together. In particular, it is held from 7:30 PM on the first day and from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the second day. As a highlight of the festival, the parade of the 'Ojishi' (giant lion) held on the night of the first day can be mentioned. This is full of power, featuring a massive lion head carried through town along a route extending about 490 meters. Additionally, a variety of events are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the second day, allowing you to enjoy the festival atmosphere throughout the day.
