The 22nd Toyama City Art Exhibition 2026

About this event

The Toyama City Art Exhibition is a citizen-participatory art exhibition featuring open-call submissions. In addition to serving as a gateway to success for emerging artists, it provides a venue for citizens to present their creative work, contributing to the promotion of arts and culture in the city. The exhibition consists of seven categories: Japanese Painting, Western Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Crafts, Calligraphy, and Photography. In each category, the City Exhibition Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Encouragement Award, and Youth Award (for participants aged 30 and under) are awarded. Admission is free. The application period runs from August 1 to August 31, 2026 (Reiwa 8), with submissions accepted online or by postal mail. Artwork delivery takes place on September 16, 2026 (Reiwa 8), and pickup takes place on September 25. The entry fee is 2,000 yen per piece (free for high school students). Past winning works and submission records are also published, allowing visitors to learn about the history and standard of the exhibition. Furthermore, information regarding the installation art category, which is held triennially once every three years, is also released separately. An official Instagram account has been established, where the latest updates are posted regularly.
