About this event

The 'Fukuoka-machi Tsukurimon Festival' is a unique festival with a tradition of over 300 years that celebrates the autumn harvest and gives thanks for bountiful crops. Elaborate sculptures called 'tsukurimon' are created using vegetables, fruits, flowers, and plants, with motifs based on current affairs, public figures of the year, trending personalities, and anime characters, and are displayed throughout the town. These rustic and unique creations delight viewers and add color to the townscape of Fukuoka-machi. Originating from the Jizo Festival, it evolved over a long history into its current form of decorating with 'tsukurimon' as popular folk art. Night stalls also set up shop, allowing visitors to savor the ambiance of ingenious folk art in a town filled with traditional vibrancy.
