About this event
Held in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, Field Watching: Mid-Autumn Tengudaira & Midagahara is a nature observation event where participants visit three locations at different elevations (Murododaira, Tengudaira, and Midagahara) alongside curators from the Tateyama Caldera Sabo Museum and mountain guides from the Tateyama Guide Association to appreciate autumn foliage and the breath of alpine plants. While observing the influence of geological and topographical differences on plant growth, participants enjoy beautiful autumn-exclusive landscapes such as the grass foliage of Midagahara and the contrast with the autumn colors of Mount Tsurugi viewed from Tengudaira. The tour includes a chartered bus and lunch, allowing comfortable travel to locations that are difficult to access via public transportation. Equivalent to mountain climbing level 1, the event is open to 3rd grade elementary school students and above, but requires experience climbing mountains about 5 times within the past year or equivalent physical fitness. Itinerary may change or be canceled due to weather or traffic conditions. It is also an easy event to drop by when visiting the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route or Shomyo Falls.
