About this event
The "Deep Sea Water Summit 2026 Toyama Nyuzen," which brings together cutting-edge initiatives in deep sea water from Toyama Bay, will be held concurrently with the "National Conference of the Japanese Society of Deep Sea Water Applications," returning to Nyuzen Town after 22 years. At the summit, practical application case studies of Toyama Bay's deep sea water in diverse fields such as fisheries, energy, food, and healthcare will be presented. At the national conference, research institutions and private companies will present their latest research findings, and tours of deep sea water-related facilities in the town are also planned. Specific case studies from Toyama Prefecture will be presented, including packaged rice manufacturing and decarbonization initiatives utilizing deep sea water's cold energy, multi-stage utilization of deep sea water and oyster purification projects, seaweed farming utilizing deep sea water with regional collaboration, isolation and development of deep sea water-derived yeast and its application to prefectural industries, and the development of healthcare products leveraging deep sea water's mineral characteristics. Furthermore, in a panel discussion titled "On the Social Implementation of Deep Sea Water" featuring officials from multiple local governments utilizing deep sea water, opinions will be exchanged on regional case studies and future prospects, exploring the diverse possibilities of social implementation brought by deep sea water. Public educational events will also be held, allowing attendees to learn deeply about Toyama's precious resource, deep sea water.
