Japanese name:金沢の無形民俗文化財共演会2026
📅 Sun, Oct 4, 2026
About this event
A joint performance will be held where intangible folk cultural properties handed down in various districts of Kanazawa gather in one place to showcase their distinctive performances. This is an opportunity to experience the appeal of traditional performing arts that convey the lifestyle and history of Kanazawa to the present day, widely presented beneath the Tsuzumi-mon Gate in front of Kanazawa Station. The event shares the charm of traditional performing arts on an autumn night in Kanazawa with visitors from both Japan and abroad. In this 6th edition, in addition to previously designated cultural properties, groups representing "Registered Cultural Properties" and "Local Treasures" preserved and cherished in local communities will also appear, presenting a wider range of traditional performing arts regardless of official designation status. Admission is free. Part 1 (from 15:30) features Genpei Demon-Warding Taiko Drums, Sanno Demon Expulsion, Nagata Gonsaku Ondo, Yuwaku Nembutsu Dance, Higashihara District Chongari Taiko and Nembutsu Dance, and Kaga Manzai. Part 2 (from 17:00) presents Namutose-bushi, Togashi Fushimidai Shinko Dance, Yakko Procession, Kibikino Medeta, Awagasaki Traditional Dance, and Ueno-machi Mochi-Pounding Dance. Part 3 (from 18:25) showcases Kaga Lion Dance, Chikamori Jongara Dance, Tanbo-zome Song, Okabata Ondo, Futamata Iyasaka Dance, Kanaiwa District Traditional Performing Arts, and Sakata Dance, packed with gorgeous dances that stand out in front of the station at night, led by the "Kaga Lion Dance" representing Kanazawa's traditional performing arts. Because it takes place in an open venue at the Kanazawa Station East Plaza (beneath Tsuzumi-mon Gate), you can enjoy it thoroughly from beginning to end, or casually drop by to watch only the part you are interested in while waiting for the Shinkansen or local train. Feeling the cool autumn night breeze, you can enjoy dynamic performances up close, where Kanazawa's history and lifestyle come alive.
