Takojima Kiriko Festival
Japanese name:蛸島キリコ祭り
📅 Thu, Sep 10, 2026 - Fri, Sep 11, 2026
About this event
This is an autumn festival in Takojima Town with a history of over 200 years. Completely coated in lacquer, lavishly adorned with gold leaf, and decorated with magnificent carvings, the kiriko giant lantern floats are said to be exceptionally beautiful and gorgeous even among the kiriko of Noto. A total of 16 kiriko floats parade through the town. Another highlight of the festival is the "Hayafune Kyogen" performed on the grounds of Takakurashiko Shrine, a valuable performance that conveys the glory of Edo culture and is designated as an intangible folk cultural property of the prefecture. The scene of the gorgeous and beautiful kiriko dancing wildly is breathtaking.
