About this event

A special exhibition introducing regional life by cross-sectionally displaying materials from the Obihiro Centennial City Museum's collection under the theme of 'Food,' covering archaeology, Ainu culture, historical documents, folklore, fine arts, and wildlife. Focusing on 'food' deeply rooted in the history and culture of the region, the exhibition unravels the evolution of life in Tokachi and Obihiro from diverse perspectives. Traces of ancient people's dietary habits can be seen from archaeological materials, wisdom of indigenous dietary culture from Ainu culture materials, and changes in dining tables across eras from historical and folklore records. In addition, through artworks and exhibits on wildlife, visitors can sense the richness of people's lives and the environment surrounding food. This exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to reflect on the depth of Tokachi and Obihiro's food culture and the lives of the local people nurtured by it.
