About this event
Held as the joint spring festival of Sakadaru Shrine and Hakusan Shrine in Ushitsu, Noto Town, the "Hikiyama Festival" is a traditional event originating from a divine entertainment ritual performed about 500 years ago by Hatakeyama, the lord of Nanao Castle, to pray for bountiful harvests. Two Hikiyama festival floats elaborately decorated with dolls parade through the town accompanied by Kiyari work chants and musical accompaniment of drums and shagiri flutes. This festival has long been a cherished spring tradition celebrated across the Noto Peninsula. The parade schedule can be confirmed in the attached file.
