About this event
The '3rd Katsura Fukumaru Cup National Student Rakugo Championship,' gathering university students from across the country who practice rakugo, will be held on Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23, 2026 (Reiwa 8). This year, approximately 200 participants from 42 universities nationwide have registered, and young rakugo performers will showcase the fruits of their daily practice, engaging in heated competition to become the number one student rakugo artist in Japan. A 'Homework Cafe' hosted by master Katsura Fukumaru is also scheduled for the day before the championship. Please come and enjoy the students' personality-packed performances on stage. Due to seismic retrofitting work making the Obama City Cultural Hall unavailable, the event will take place at a new venue.
