Dinosaur Junior Academy in Katsuyama

Organized by Katsuyama City in Fukui Prefecture, the "Dinosaur Junior Academy in Katsuyama" is a 5-day inquiry-based educational program for junior high and high school students held in August 2026. Using dinosaurs as an entry point, it aims to develop children's curiosity into learning and research. In this program, participants can experience an integrated process from excavation to research and presentation while engaging with the frontlines of the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Fukui Prefectural University's Faculty of Dinosaur Research. Specifically, the schedule includes touring the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, fossil excavation experiences and field site visits, touring the facilities of Fukui Prefectural University's Faculty of Dinosaur Research, research experiences using digital technology, and a final presentation session. In addition, special lectures will be given by the dinosaur specialty shop Dinosaur Base and researchers from the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. Centered around dinosaurs, this program provides a learning environment that connects "interest -> inquiry -> career paths" to nurture children's inquisitive minds.
