Echizen Crab Festival 2026

Fukui Prefecture's largest crab celebration, "Echizen Crab Festival 2026," will be held in Echizen Town, the sacred ground of Echizen crab that accounts for about 70% of its catch. Local fresh fish shops in Echizen Town will display an abundance of Echizen crab and female seiko crab, allowing visitors to savor fresh ocean delicacies. At the venue, sales of seafood gourmet items such as the popular seiko crab soup, grilled seafood, and steamed seiko crab shells will delight visitors. Special free-participation events such as crab shell stacking games and big-catch flag (tairyo-bata) coloring are also available, making it enjoyable for adults and children alike. In a collaborative project with the Echizen Crab Museum, a riddle-solving event titled "Find Kani Taro!" will also take place, providing experiences unique to the crab town. It is a major event irresistible to crab lovers, where they can fully enjoy this season's Echizen crab.
