Held across Wakasa Town and Obama City in Fukui Prefecture, Wakasa-ji Trail Run 2026 is a trail running event where participants can fully enjoy the rich nature of the Wakasa region, including the sea, mountains, and lakes. Three courses are available: Long (approx. 43 km), Middle (approx. 32 km), and Short (approx. 15 km), allowing you to take on the challenge according to your fitness and experience level. Target completion times are within 9 hours for the Long course, within 7 hours for the Middle course, and within 5 hours for the Short course. The race day is Sunday, September 27, 2026, with advance check-in and a pre-race festival held on the previous day, Saturday the 26th. The start and finish point is Shikimi Beach in Wakasa Town. Participants are required to bring necessary gear such as clothing and shoes suitable for trail running, as well as their own personal cup. The event calls for strict adherence to sportsmanship, taking trash home, helping fellow participants, and caring for nature. Paper cups will not be provided at aid stations, so bringing a personal cup is mandatory. This event offers a precious opportunity to challenge your limits while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Wakasa-ji.
