The Matsumoto City Museum has a 120-year history since its first museum was established on September 21, 1906 (Meiji 39). While changing its name and location over time, it has continually promoted community-based activities alongside citizens, developing into today's Matsumoto City Museum. Commemorating the museum's founding, this special exhibition, 'Museum Love 120 Years: The Path to Opening the New Museum and Citizens' Thoughts,' looks back on 120 years of history as a place of learning for 'citizens who take on the role of passing local cultural assets on to the next generation.' The exhibition allows visitors to experience the museum's journey from its opening to the present day and the citizens' feelings toward the museum. Admission is free, and viewing is available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed every Tuesday.
