Reisho-ji Temple Autumn Foliage Peak Season

At Reisho-ji Temple in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture, visitors can beautifully enjoy the autumn leaves around the temple grounds when autumn arrives. In particular, the rare large Ohatsuki Ginkgo tree towering about 17m high beside the Sanmon gate is remarkably eye-catching. There are also many cherry, maple, and azalea trees in and around the grounds, creating a scenic landscape with the contrasting colors of red and yellow leaves. It typically reaches peak viewing from late October to early November, attracting many tourists. In 2026, illuminations are also scheduled from late October to early November, allowing visitors to enjoy the fantastical autumn foliage at night. Interior viewing is also available, and harmony with historic architecture is one of its appeals. Strolling the temple grounds is free, but interior viewing requires a fee.
