About this event

The "8th Iiyama Music Festival" will be held in Iiyama City. At this music festival, a 100-member citizen chorus will perform alongside soloists and an orchestra to present a powerful collaboration. Participants are recruited regardless of choral experience or age, offering an opportunity to create an inspiring stage together with fellow performers. The program includes famous opera pieces such as "Brindisi" (The Drinking Song) from Verdi's "La Traviata," "Habanera" from Bizet's "Carmen," "Crisantemi" by Puccini, and "Largo al factotum" from Rossini's "The Barber of Seville." In addition, all movements of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 "Choral" will be performed. Conducted by Eiichi Tomabechi with orchestral accompaniment by Filarmonica Giacomo Puccini, the stage will also welcome professional opera singers for a magnificent performance. Multiple practice dates have been scheduled for the citizen chorus as preparations proceed toward the main event.
