Tomi City in Nagano Prefecture is known as 'Japan's top walnut production area,' where walnut trees can be seen in abundance throughout the city. At this event, you can experience harvesting as the green fruits on the trees split open to reveal brown walnuts. Knocking down walnuts with a bamboo pole is a harvesting task that is sure to become addictive once you get the hang of it. Skilled walnut orchard staff will carefully guide you through the harvesting method, ensuring that adults and children alike can enjoy the experience with peace of mind. During the harvesting event, you can crack shells on the spot to taste undried 'raw walnuts,' as well as enjoy tasting the local specialty, 'walnut ohagi' (sweet rice balls). Furthermore, you can take home the raw walnuts you harvest as a souvenir (about 1 kg). Don't miss out on this experience unique to the precious harvest season.
