About this event

'Light and Life Woodblock Print Exhibition: Hiroshi, Toshi, and Tsukasa Yoshida — The DNA of Shin-Hanga,' exploring the charm of Yoshida woodblock prints, will be held at the Maruyama Banka Memorial Museum in Tomi City, Nagano Prefecture. This exhibition introduces the world of woodblock prints spanning three generations: Hiroshi Yoshida, his eldest son Toshi Yoshida, and Toshi's fifth son Tsukasa Yoshida. As described by the saying that father Hiroshi printed light, son Toshi carved life, and grandson Tsukasa painted heart, each pursued their own unique expression. The traditional woodblock printing techniques built by Hiroshi Yoshida have been faithfully passed down from Toshi to Tsukasa. While rooted in tradition, the works of the three generations, who forged new expressions without merely imitating predecessors, boast breathtaking beauty. Please enjoy these gem-like woodblock print works whose craft and spirit have been inherited across three generations.
