As autumn deepens, Nyukasa Marsh is enveloped in vivid grass autumn foliage (kusa-momiji), creating a landscape that looks as if a golden carpet has been laid out. The surrounding trees also take on autumn colors, turning the entire marshland into a warm, sepia-toned world. This fantastical scene is a precious sight that can only be enjoyed for a brief period before environmental maintenance is conducted to ensure beautiful wild mountain plants bloom again the following year. Located at an altitude of 1,734 meters, Nyukasa Marsh features well-maintained wooden walkways, allowing visitors to enjoy the autumn scenery spreading beneath their feet from both broad overviews and close-up views. From the Autumn Foliage Gondola, you can take in dynamic, three-dimensional views of the changing tree hues as you gain altitude, as well as the 'three-tier autumn colors' of the Southern Alps and Yatsugatake Mountains. On clear days, Mount Fuji can also be seen in the distance. Furthermore, on the early-morning-only 'Sea of Clouds Gondola,' there is a chance to encounter dramatic, breathtaking views of a golden sea of clouds illuminated by the morning glow.
