Organized by the Higashikagura Town Board of Education, "2026 Protecting the Region's Future Day - Environment, Food & Disaster Prevention Festival" is an educational event concerning the environment, food, and disaster prevention. On the day, a wide variety of attractions are scheduled, including exhibitions of disaster response vehicles such as doctor helicopters and fire engines, displays of hydrogen and electric vehicles, a clean walk, food relief cooking by the Red Cross Volunteer Corps, disaster prevention lectures, and disaster prevention seminars. In the morning session, environmental experiences such as the Clean Walk Operation and interactive digital games, as well as disaster prevention experiences such as dense smoke simulations, VR/AR disaster experiences, evacuation shelter experiences, and lifesaving training will be conducted. Food experiences include meal provision through emergency field kitchens, free distribution of cotton candy and popcorn, and drinking water provided to those who complete the stamp rally. In the afternoon session, a disaster prevention lecture by Asahikawa Local Meteorological Observatory staff, along with a disaster prevention seminar by former HBC weather forecaster Hajime Kondo and a talk session with Mayor Yamamoto, will be held. It will be an opportunity for many visitors to learn and experience about the environment, food, and disaster prevention.
