"Paradise in the Sky: Sea of Clouds Harbor," held at Fujimidai Highlands Ropeway Heavens Sonohara in Achi Village, Nagano Prefecture, is an event where you can take in the spectacular sea of clouds stretching out toward the Southern Alps from an observation deck at an altitude of 1,600m. Visitors ride a gondola followed by an observation deck lift to reach the venue and experience fantastical early morning views. During this season, in addition to the sea of clouds, you can enjoy magnificent landscapes woven by nature, including starry skies acclaimed as Japan's best, mountains dyed in autumn red, and the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps in November. Because the average early morning temperature falls below 5°C, winter gear is essential. Operations continue in rainy weather, but may be suspended during severe weather. Tickets require advance reservations with designated dates and times, going on sale online from 10:00 AM two weeks prior to the date of use. Shuttle buses for guests staying at Hirugami Onsen and value plans from travel agencies are also available.
