About this event
This is a year-round experiential rice cultivation program where participants experience everything from rice planting to harvesting and threshing in the rich nature of Urugi Village. In addition to work in the rice paddies, participants can plant and harvest local specialties and traditional vegetables such as sweet corn, blueberries, and purple sweet potatoes, enjoy seasonal flavors at lunch, and connect with the lifestyle and culture of Urugi Village. It is a program where you can touch the soil, sweat, and experience the joy of harvesting throughout the year. The annual schedule includes rice planting and purple sweet potato planting on Saturday, May 23; weeding paddies, sweet corn picking, and blueberry picking on Saturday, July 18; rice harvesting and purple sweet potato digging on Saturday, September 26; and threshing & harvest festival on Saturday, October 24. The meeting place is the Urugi Village Office parking lot, and the event runs from 10:00 to 15:00. The capacity is 40 participants, and anyone can join. Children in high school or younger must be accompanied by a guardian. The participation fee is 19,000 yen per adult (high school students and older), which includes experience fees, 10 kg of newly harvested rice (handed out at the harvest festival), and souvenirs at each session. A separate lunch fee of 1,000 yen per session is required. Infants are free, and elementary and junior high school children only require the lunch fee per session. Applications are accepted via the application form, phone, email, or fax.
