About this event
This is a workshop where parents and children can experience "Ajima-gasa," a traditional Japanese umbrella of Takagi Village, Nagano Prefecture, and create a one-of-a-kind Japanese umbrella in the world. Through the 3-day consecutive course, participants can learn traditional techniques and experience the sense of accomplishment as the umbrella takes shape. The 2nd session on Sunday, November 22 will feature handle-paper experience and painting experience, and the 3rd session on Monday, November 23 (national holiday) will feature dyeing experience (parts 1 and 2), maintenance experience, and an exchange of opinions. The target audience is 4th-grade elementary school students through high school students, and participation by parents and children is welcome. The capacity is 10 pairs of parents and children.
