Takebe Hachiman Shrine Autumn Grand Festival

Japanese name:武部八幡宮秋季例大祭

📅 Sat, Oct 10, 2026

📍 Ogawa, Nagano

About this event

The eve festival (Yoimiya) of the Takebe Hachiman Shrine Autumn Grand Festival, the liveliest autumn festival in the village passed down in the Takafu district of Ogawa Village, will be held. Due to depopulation and an aging population, this traditional festival is facing a shortage of people to pull the lantern floats (Hikitoro). Organizers are calling on Furusato villagers to participate as lantern float pullers and help liven up the festival in Ogawa Village. It will be a wonderful opportunity to deepen bonds between participants. During the eve festival, the lantern floats will depart from the Takafucho District Community Center toward Takebe Hachiman Shrine, and the festivities will continue late into the night. The event will proceed rain or shine. Happi coats and tenugui hand towels will be prepared for Furusato villagers, so wearing them is recommended. Participants must bring their own sash (obi/cord). The main accommodation facilities introduced in the village include Hoshi to Midori no Romankan, Rinrinkan, and Furusato House Biotope.
