Cormorant Fishing (Ukai) Backyard Tour

About this event

This tour allows participants to observe cormorant fishing masters (usho) and boatmen preparing for departure at the masters' residences and related facilities during the Gifu Nagaragawa Cormorant Fishing season. Combined with viewing the exhibition room at the Nagaragawa Ukai Museum, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of cormorant fishing. On the tour, guests can visit the master's residence, observe preparation scenes of the cormorant fishing boats, and experience the behind-the-scenes aspects of cormorant fishing that are not usually seen. The event period runs from May 11 to October 15, with tours taking place from 3:00 PM to approximately 5:15 PM. Capacity is limited to the first 20 applicants each day, and the participation fee is 2,500 yen (includes exhibition room admission ticket). Reservations begin from 9:00 AM on April 25, 2026. The tour may be cancelled depending on weather and water level conditions.
