Held in Shōkawa-chō, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, the "Shōkawa Dedication Village Play (Shōkawa Shrine)" is a traditional village play dedicated at Shōkawa Shrine. Scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026, it opens with a Lion Dance (Shishimai) starting at 7:00 PM. This is followed by traditional dances from 7:30 PM, and from 8:20 PM, the dedicated theatrical period drama "Akunen Tachi no Tabi" will be performed. Furthermore, dances and the Lion Dance will be presented starting at 10:00 PM, with the event scheduled to conclude at 11:00 PM. This event offers a precious opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to enjoy traditional regional performing arts together. The plays and dances performed in the solemn atmosphere of Shōkawa Shrine are sure to leave a deep impression on spectators. Admission is free, and parking is available.
