2026 Oorigawa Dam Light-Up

The annual light-up event will be held at Oorigawa Dam in Ena City, Gifu Prefecture. This year, the event, which also serves as the test lighting usually conducted in winter, will take place from Thursday, August 20 to Wednesday, August 26. During the illumination period, 'Oorigawa Dam Light-Up Cards' featuring the beautiful appearance of Oorigawa Dam will be distributed. In addition, a photo contest will be held on the official Instagram of the Oorigawa Dam Management Branch Office, where visitors can take photos of the beautiful night scenery of the dam and submit their entries. Of particular note is the special event held on Saturday, August 22. On this day, lanterns created by students of Gifu Prefectural Mizunami High School in cooperation with the local community will be installed, and a powerful performance by the Japanese Taiko Drum Club of Chukyo High School will be showcased. Furthermore, fireworks will be launched from the observation park near the dam, coloring the night sky. Festival stalls and food trucks are also scheduled to open, offering gourmet food. Also, on the day of this special event, there will be a special opportunity to tour the inside of the dam body at night, which is normally not accessible. For access to the venue, a free shuttle vehicle operating from the Mizunami Station North Rotary is convenient. In the event of cancellation due to stormy weather or other reasons, it will be postponed to Saturday, August 29.
